To turn a MOBI, AZW, AZW3 or PRC file into an audiobook, the file has to be DRM-free. A book downloaded from the Kindle store is DRM-protected and cannot be read here, and we do not remove DRM. Files you exported yourself from Kindle Create, Calibre or Vellum work, and so do DRM-free purchases. If all you have is the protected copy, export an EPUB or DOCX from your manuscript tool and upload that instead. Once a DRM-free file is in, chapter detection, casting and export behave as they do for any other format.

Can I convert a book I bought from the Kindle store?
Not if it is DRM-protected. Store downloads carry protection that cannot be read here, and we do not remove it. A DRM-free purchase works, as does any file you exported yourself.
How do I know whether my MOBI has DRM?
If you built the file yourself from your own manuscript, it has none. If it came from a store, a protected copy cannot be read and the upload will not produce a usable book.
Which Kindle-style extensions are accepted?
MOBI, AZW, AZW3 and PRC. All four are accepted as long as the file is DRM-free.
I only have the protected copy. What should I do?

Soft hyphens and zero-width characters are removed and ligatures are split back into letters before narration, so words are not broken or mispronounced.
