Generation Limits
How credits work
- 1 credit ≈ 1 second of generated audio — the exact charge is by character (
⌈ characters ÷ 17 ⌉in the app;÷ 15on the API). See Credits & Minutes for the full formula and examples. - Shown as "minutes" in the UI (60 credits = 1 minute)
- You're only charged for generations that succeed — failed or cancelled ones are refunded

Long text & how it's processed
Each synthesis request handles up to 2,000 characters. When your text is longer, VocalLab automatically splits it into ~2,000‑character chunks on natural sentence boundaries, generates them in parallel, and stitches the audio back into a single seamless file. You don't need to pre‑split anything — just paste your script up to your plan's per‑generation limit and generate once. Word‑level captions and SRT stay in sync across the joins.
Rate limits
Each account runs one generation at a time — if you start another while one is still running, you'll see "A generation is already running — wait for it to finish." Accounts can start up to 60 generations per minute. On Pro and above your generations also get priority in the queue, and Max uses the express lane.
