Generation Limits
How credits work
- 1 credit ≈ 1 second of generated audio — the exact charge is by character (
⌈ characters ÷ 17 ⌉in the app;÷ 15on the API). See Credits & Minutes for the full formula and examples. - Shown as "minutes" in the UI (60 credits = 1 minute)
- Credits are deducted after a successful generation

Long text & how it's processed
Each synthesis request handles up to 2,000 characters. When your text is longer, VocalLab automatically splits it into ~2,000‑character chunks on natural sentence boundaries, generates them in parallel, and stitches the audio back into a single seamless file. You don't need to pre‑split anything — just paste your script up to your plan's per‑generation limit and generate once. Word‑level captions and SRT stay in sync across the joins.
Rate limits
Generations are queued automatically — no need to wait before submitting another. Each account can start up to 60 generations per minute.
