Using SRT on YouTube & TikTok
YouTube
Adding captions to a YouTube video
- Upload your video to YouTube Studio
- Go to Subtitles in the left sidebar
- Click Add Language → select your language
- Click Add → choose Upload file
- Select your
.srtfile from VocalLab - YouTube will sync the captions to your video automatically
Auto-translate
Once you upload an SRT, YouTube can auto-translate it to other languages for international audiences.
TikTok
TikTok doesn't support SRT file upload directly, but you can use the captions in two ways:
Option 1 — Burn captions into the video (recommended)
Use a video editor like CapCut (free):
- Import your video and audio into CapCut
- Go to Text → Auto Captions → or Import SRT
- Style your captions (font, colour, position)
- Export and upload to TikTok
Option 2 — TikTok auto-captions
Upload your video to TikTok → enable Auto Captions in the caption settings. TikTok will generate its own captions (less accurate than your SRT but works).
CapCut workflow (TikTok & Reels)
- Import video + VocalLab MP3 audio
- Text → Import SRT
- Select your
.srtfile - Captions appear word-by-word synced to audio
- Style with TikTok-friendly fonts and colours
- Export at 1080×1920 for vertical video
